A four-bedroom freestanding home in the western Sydney suburb of Smithfield is expected to sell between $800,000 and $900,000 this weekend as it goes to market with 12 registered bidders.
The property, 97 Brenan Street Smithfield, was last sold in March 2009 for $490,000 following extensive renovations.
Agent Graham Ball from Ozway Reality said the property received an ‘overwhelming’ turnout at open inspection from older buyers interested in downsizing to a single storey home.
“It’s on a popular spot on top of the hill with easy access to Fairfield and local shopping centres,” he said.
“It’s an original 1963 three-bedroom home extensively upgraded in 2001 with a new roof and an extra bedroom.
“In 2009 it was sold to the family who are selling it now — they are moving out due to ill health.
“The price is definitely going to be between $800,000 to $900,000 for sure … feedback so far has the property priced into the low eights.”
CoreLogic put the median house price for Smithfield at $710,000.
The property is set for auction Saturday August 17.
