Rundown Wahroonga home deemed structurally unsafe is up for sale

This Wahroonga home that is up for sale has been deemed unsafe to enter.

Who would have thought a 924sqm property in one of Wahroonga’s best streets would come to market with a $1.2 million auction guide.

There is a catch though. The house is not in any fit state to be lived in, unless you like your skylights to be holes in the roof and your floor in a similar state.

In fact, agents David Walker and Chris Guest, of Ray White Upper North Shore won’t even take interested buyers inside the classic old home.

Plenty of potential.

It has a price guide of $1.2 million.

“We’re just selling it as a block,” Mr Walker said. “We’ve got a certificate saying it is structurally unsafe, so we are not showing people through the house.”

The property, at 11 Mahratta Ave, Wahroonga, is located on the highside of the street, which is home to a range of substantial homes set among lush gardens and lawns.

“There’s not too many old ones left in this street, Mr Walker said.

He said there was a lot of interest from buyers, thanks to the property’s location, near-level block and the potential it offers, particularly to families and upsizers.

“It’s within walking distance of the station, the block is large and is surrounded by high quality homes,” Mr Walker said.

A large block is the biggest selling point.

The property is due to go to auction on August 17, at 9am. It is open for inspection on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1.30-2pm.
