Although not currently owned by an Anne, First National Nitschke selling agent Janelle Owen said it had been in the past.

“There used to be an owner called Anne, the previous vendor actually named it,” she said.

“It was originally built around 1839 as a workers cottage for Glenbarr Homestead down the road.”

Advertised with a price guide of $469,000, Ms Owen said the property would suit “couples that love entertaining or families.”

“You have the original cottage with a cellar and you go through and have a spacious open-plan living area,” she said.

“The lounge room has cathedral ceilings and double doors that lead onto an entertaining area.”

Ms Owen said the property attracted some keen buyers to the first open inspection over the weekend, with most drawn to the character of the property.

“In the past six weeks we’ve had a lot of new buyers come out,” she said.

“A lot of people that have family in Adelaide choose to retire in Strathalbyn, being only an hour from Adelaide. We also see young families.”

The home features five living and meals areas, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and three entertaining areas plus a large backyard.

Although the home’s entertaining capacity is a stand out, the master suite should not be overlooked, featuring a luxurious spa bath in the corner of the room.

Ms Owen said the property provided easy access to all the charms Strathalbyn has to offer.

“It’s on the corner of Melville Lane, it’s very quiet and cute,” she said.

“You can walk down the really historic parts of the town and you’re only a few minutes walk from the town centre.”
