I’VE LIVED IN MY HOME FOR…
Almost three years. I live with my wife Emma, daughter Winter and our dog Yogi.
MY HOME IS…
A place where you can truly unwind and create life long memories as a family.
I LOVE MY HOME BECAUSE…
We’ve created a space which reflects our personalities.
BUT I STILL NEED TO…
Refurbish the kitchen.
MY DECORATING STYLE IS…
Mid-Century Modern style, lots of clean lines, geometric shapes and wood.
A lovely, rare TH Brown Desk for the office.
FAVOURITE PART OF YOUR PROPERTY
The backyard. We’re fortunate enough to have a great backyard for entertaining, so lots of good times are had there.
Disco and house records. In a previous life I was a DJ playing the club scene for some 18 years.
Our plants — you can never have too many.
The pool — gives us the eternal holiday vibe.
Various artwork — over the years Voice has worked with some of SA’s leading artists to design various books and catalogues. Subsequently I have managed to acquire lots amazing pieces, which proudly hang around the house.
IN MY GARDEN I HAVE…
Lots of cacti, succulents and low maintenance plants. We re-planted the entire front and back garden after we purchased the house and it’s really coming into its own now.
WHEN I GET HOME AT NIGHT…
I get accosted by our dog Yogi.
AT WEEKENDS I LIKE TO…
MY FIRST CAR WAS…
A 1962 VW Beetle
CLEAN FREAK OR MESSY BESSIE?
Straight up clean freak, some might say borderline OCD.
LIKE TO LISTEN TO…
My taste is quite eclectic. Anything from indie folk through to disco. Music’s an important ingredient in the studio, and through various staff members I have been exposed to music I wouldn’t normally indulge in—which has been great.
AT THE MOMENT I AM READING…
Meet Me in the Bathroom. It is an oral history which details the rebirth of the New York rock scene in the new millennium.
Anything by Quentin Tarantino.
ON MY WISHLIST IS…
Modernist Mid-Century home located beachside.
WHEN I’M HOME I LIKE TO COOK…
Indian curries, Chicken Saag is my speciality.
FAV CAFE/RESTAURANT/ BAR
Africola and The Salopian Inn are standouts for me. As for cafes I reckon Voice serves up a pretty damn good coffee.
A simple beer will suffice.
WHEN I WAS A CHILD I WANTED TO BE…
Something creative. I wasn’t definitive on anything particular, but had a love of all things craft. Mum is a dressmaker and dad a shoemaker, so you could say crafting was in my blood.
FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD MEMORY
Every weekend my parents would take me to our shack at Rogues Point on the Yorke Peninsula. Countless days of fishing and riding motorbikes will stay with me forever.
IF I COULD CHANGE CAREER NOW I WOULD BE…
A professional surfer. Those guys and girls really live the dream.
FAVOURITE SA HOLIDAY SPOT
Innes National Park on the Yorke Peninsula.
DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION
Travel for a couple of months through South America.
FAVOURITE SPORTS TEAM
Essendon. Go the Bombers.
SOMETHING YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?
To be the go-to creative firm in Australia that works with like-minded founders who are dedicated and driven to be successful. The kind that we can sit at the same table with and put a stake in the ground for what they stand for.
MY NEIGHBOURS ARE…
Helpful, we have a really nice community vibe.
I COULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT…
Emma. Being a successful business woman herself, she is extremely supportive with my own business endeavours, not to mention an amazing mother to Winter. I would also find is very difficult to live without being close to the beach, its my happy place.
IF I COULD AFFORD IT I WOULD LIVE…
Whale Beach, NSW. Ocean views, of course.
