Fresh from overseeing the development of a new $8.5 million facility at Alexandria, City Ford’s dealer principal Mark Janus has a new project.

He and wife Linda are selling their Riverview family home after about 12 years, and hope to find somewhere on the water.

The couple have three children, Dylan, Max and Claudia. Mr Janus said it had been the ideal home to raise a family.

“We moved there because our boys went to Riverview (Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview),” he said.

There was another bonus of living so close to the school – in fact the house backs onto the campus.

The school allows adjoining neighbours to use the grounds and outdoor facilities like tennis courts.

And the active Janus family has seized every opportunity to use the property.

“It’s like having 100 acres of lawn without having to mow it,” Mr Janus said. “We have loved it.”

In 2017, the family undertook a meticulous renovation of their five-bedroom home, with the focus on creating light-filled living spaces that offer an indoor-outdoor flow.

Mr Janus, who has been dealer principal of the Australian Automotive Group’s City Ford for the past four years, said the Riverview home was a family haven.

“When the kids were younger there were other kids in the neighbourhood and they all played together,” he said.

“A lot of those families are now growing up and we are seeing more new young families coming into the neighbourhood. It would be nice to see a young family in here again.”

He said they had designed the renovation to be family friendly for all ages.

“It’s a really safe environment, where you can open the doors and let the kids out to run around but still keep an eye on them,” he said.

Features of the home, at 12 Aminya Place, include a media room, skylit Bosch kitchen with induction cooktop and stone surfaces, ducted airconditioning and double garage.

“I just love it, but it’s time for a change – we want to go and live on the water,” Mr Janus said.

The property is due to go to auction on November 16, with a price guide of $3,400,000, through Simon Harrison, of Belle Property Lane Cove.
