Gold Coast developer Greg Rix’s family mansion back on the market

Developer Greg Rix’s family home at 38 Kawana Cres, Ashmore, is back up for grabs.

GOLD Coast development heavyweight Greg Rix has relisted his luxury riverfront mansion after a multimillion-dollar deal fell through.

The developer’s family home, which he built in 1999, passed in at auction in June for $1.9 million after five bidders vied for the keys.

A $2 million deal was agreed on a week later but that contract has since fallen over.

The four-bedroom property at 38 Kawana Cres, Ashmore, is now back on the market without a price tag.

The property passed in at $1.9 million at auction in June.

A $2 million contract later fell over.

Ray White Prestige Surfers Paradise agent Robert Graham said the highest bidder purchased the property after auction but was unable to settle.

Mr Graham said the Rix’s are inviting all reasonable offers now, with a few of the underbidders also reconsidering the property.

“The home is magnificent on large land in a tightly-held estate,” he said.

“It is the first time it was ever put up for sale since they (the Rix’s) bought the land in 1988.

“We had a lot of families interested as it was a larger block of land in a quieter neighbourhood.”

Mr Rix and his wife Wendy are selling the property to downsize to a beachfront apartment.

CoreLogic records show they splashed more than $8 million on a Main Beach penthouse earlier this year.

The waterside pool will provide hours of entertainment.

There is a private balcony and spa for the parents.

The two-storey house featured a classic, yet timeless, design with a waterside entertainment area, pool, home theatre, wine cellar and an impressive main bedroom.

It sits on a 1162sq m riverside block.

“It’s been an outstanding family home and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed living here all these years,” Mr Rix said when the property hit the market in June.

“It’s a fantastic family property, which we’ll be sad to leave, but with the family all grown up we’ve decided it’s time to move on as part of our downsizing strategy.”

“We just don’t have the need for the space.

“I have no doubt the next owner will love it as much as we have.”

Mr Rix runs Rix Developments with his father Norm and is the director of the $100 million Pimpama City Shopping Centre, which his company built and owns.
