Manly house raised from hero to superstar

This house at 158 Carlton Tce, Manly has 180-degree views over the bay and is available for sale now.

THIS house was built the year U2 released The Joshua Tree album.

But while popular demand has the hit Irish band touring their 1987 album to Australia later this year, with a rebranded album cover, there is barely a hint of the 80s influence left at 158 Carlton Tce, Manly.

Andrea Ferris bought the house in 2015, and a complete renovation began, capitalising on the unrestricted views to Moreton Bay and raising the house from a hero to a superstar of Carlton Tce.

The Manly house is open for inspection on Saturday at 9.45am.

“I could see the end result even back then and it’s just beautiful,” Mrs Ferris said.

Ray White Manly’s Richard Myers is selling the three-bedroom house and is inviting offers over $1.15 million.

“This home is enviably positioned high on the hill with breathtaking 180-degree views of Moreton Bay,” he said.

“A complete renovation brings this property to the highest standards.”

The multi-level house on 506sq m has 225sq m of internal space.

There is a new ensuite and layout to the master bedroom. The downstairs bathroom and toilet have been redesigned and the upstairs kitchen now has views over the sunken lounge to the nearby harbour.

There are new tiles, carpets, ballustrading and gardens.

“It is just a really lovely area to live,” Mrs Ferris said.

“I have wonderful neighbours and there’s nothing more stunning than watching the boats and yachts going out of the Manly Harbour in the morning or going for walks along the Esplanade.”

Manly is a suburb which can offer Moreton Bay views whether you’re upsizing into a large house or downsizing to a house or a unit.

And Carlton Tce, despite only one house selling here in two years, is a place where you can downsize from a modern home into a renovated older residence without leaving the neighbourhood.

“My favourite room is the master bedroom and the upstairs living room because of that open light feeling,” Mrs Ferris said.

“I had a little patio off the bedroom and I enclosed that so it’s quite a big room now and I love to go there and sit and read.”
